If you dare laying hand on your Dunkelstadt modules, it's very easy to create special equipment for your dungeon.
Some people may think that the Dunkelstadt system has some disadvantages in it's modularity compared to other sytems. The truth is it's contrary!
In this workshop I will show you, how easy and quick you can create equipment, that's not available in the shops and that may give your players some surprises.
To create these pieces you only need a sharp cutter knife, a ruler, some sandpaper, a ballpen and about 30 minutes of time.
Exemplarily I took module 2 and draw all the different cutting lines onto it with the help of my ruler.
To get a smooth surface you better draw the lines all around the module and follow these lines with your cutter knife.
Carefully at first, then cutting deeper but be sure to keep vertical with the knife.
When you did cut all around into the module (approx. 5mm deep), it's very easy to break it.
Breaking the module may leave some unesthetic cutting surfaces. But you can easily clean these parts with the sand paper.
You can draw and imprint the gaps and patterns into the cutting surface with the ballpen.
There is hardly anything to see of the cuts after the base coat.
It's no problem if something accidently breaks while working on your module. You can fix this very easily with glue and colour.
I only wanted to show how to cut of a piese of corridor at first, so I wasn't very careful with the rest of my module and a wall broke. After fixing it you can hardly see anything of this accident.
I cut off this wall completely from the module and split it into two similar pieces.
I glued the boken part and did the same steps I showed you with the corridor piece. I smoothed the cutting surfaces, drew and imprinted the gaps and pattern with the ballpen and painted all parts.
In this way you can create your own special equipment out of only one Dunkelstadt module. Equipment that gives you more modularity and alternation for your dungeon than it already has.
Have fun with creating and painting
